Cruising enthusiasts docking at a variety of Safe Harbor Marinas locations now have a new benefit. The company has partnered with X Shore, the Swedish boatbuilder of all-electric craft, allowing guests use of one of its high-performance powerboats.
Safe Harbor Marinas, which recently acquired Savannah Yacht Center, will have X Shore’s Eelex 8000 boats at several properties. They include the marinas in San Diego, Charleston, Montauk, Newport, and West Palm Beach. Additionally, the boats will be available at pop-up locations. The boats are specifically for Safe Harbor Members, who already benefit from a variety of exclusive offers and discounts.
Members have already taken the wheel or let a captain do so at a few events around the country, in fact. “The enthusiasm from our members about the X Shore program is noticeable,” says Rebecca LeBlanc, Safe Harbor Marinas’ vice president of partnerships and experiences. “As a direct result, they are highly anticipating the addition of this amenity to our different marinas across the country. Our partnership with X Shore will continue to have a positive impact on the future of the marine industry.”
The Eelex 8000 is a 26-footer (8-meter) supporting a variety of activities. Given its reported range of 100 nautical miles and cruising speed of 20 knots, boaters can explore coastlines all afternoon. Different seating configurations are available, too, supporting dinners at anchor, fishing, and more as well.
Besides relying on electric propulsion instead of fossil fuels, X Shore incorporates more environmentally friendly materials into its boats. The Eelex 8000, for instance, employs cork decking. On a related subject, the builder is testing bio-based materials for future hull construction. Furthermore, Cicero Shades of Green, which provides independent, research-based, climate-impact company reviews, gave X Shore its highest rating during a 2022 audit. The builder got its start in Stockholm in 2016.
